Howdy Nash

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2026

Howdy Nash is a free Nashville travel guide and AI concierge. We collect the minimum data needed to make the app work and never sell your information to anyone.

What we collect

Location. If you allow it, the app reads your device location through your browser's geolocation API. We use it to show distances to restaurants and attractions, and to share your live position inside a group session you create or join. We never store your location on our servers outside of an active group session.

Group sharing data. When you create or join a group, we store your chosen first name, your latest latitude and longitude, and a member ID inside Upstash Redis. The group auto-expires after 6, 12, or 24 hours (your choice when creating). After expiry, all data is permanently deleted.

Saved spots. When you star a restaurant or place, we save it to your browser's local storage only. It never leaves your device.

Email signups. If you sign up for the optional Nashville cheat sheet email, we store your email address and first name in our database to send the welcome email and any future updates. You can unsubscribe with one click from any email.

Chat messages. When you ask the AI concierge a question, your message is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. Anthropic processes the message to return an answer. We do not store your chat history on our servers. Anthropic's privacy practices are at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Basic technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider Vercel records standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and request timestamps. These logs are retained briefly for security and debugging.

What we do not collect

Third parties we use

To make the app work we send some requests to third-party services. Each one only receives the specific data needed for that feature.

Group location sharing

Group location sharing is opt-in. You enter a code or create one to share your position with people you trust. Pins update every few seconds while the group is active. The group leader can end the share at any time, which kicks every member off the live map. The leader can also transfer leadership to another member. When the timer expires or the group ends, all location data is automatically deleted from our servers.

Only share your group code with people you trust. Howdy Nash is not responsible for incidents that occur during travel between locations or between members.
